Seetha Amman Kovil
Explore where Sita was held captive by Ravana
Seetha Amman Temple is 5 kilometres (3.1 miles) from Nuwara Eliya and located in the Seetha Eliya village (also known as Sita Eliya). In the Hindu epic Ramayana, this is thought to be the location where Sita was held captive by Asur Samrat (Devil King) Ravana and where she prayed daily for Rama to come and save her. Circular depressions on the rock face across the stream are thought to be Lord Hanuman's footprints.
